I have been a Pawling resident since 2015 and our relatives have lived here for 50+ years. We chose to plant our roots and raise our family here, because we knew how special this community was and the opportunities it would provide for our family. As a father of four young children, I am beyond committed to ensuring our public schools are the best they can be.
I am currently in my 12th year teaching middle school science. The best part of my job is the unique opportunity to teach both inclusion classes and accelerated honors classes. This experience allows me to work closely with, and learn from, the neuro-divergent learners our schools serve every day. Through these experiences, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges public schools face and have developed practical knowledge on how to best support all students.
For the last 17 years, I have coached athletes aged 3 to 18 in multiple sports. I challenge my players to be the best they can be, while providing the supports and environment necessary to help them get there. Coaching mostly baseball, a sport of failure, I highly value what sports can teach a child, and how these lessons can be applied to life outside the lines of the field.
Serving on Pawling's Board of Education has been an honor and one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. Throughout my tenure on the school board, I have tried to approach everything with an open mind and always be sure to do right by the students and the community I serve. Often, this involves difficult decisions, as I am sure many of you see. I am running for re-election because we are at a pivotal time regarding public education in our community and beyond. As a public school teacher and a father of young children attending our schools, I understand the challenges our public schools face and the amazing opportunities our public schools provide for ALL students to learn, grow, and succeed.
I am running to continue to be an advocate that supports and appreciates what a strong public education does for a child and our community. I will continue to promote transparency and accessibility to the school district and board of education, so everyone can trust the work being done and feel a part of the amazing work being done. I will continue to ask questions, request data, and challenge complacency in an effort to get our programs, supports, facilities, and more to where they should be.
For the last three years I have stayed true to these principles and have not shied away from difficult conversations, difficult decisions, or challenging the status quo in an effort to do better things and not just what has always been done.
Right now, Pawling is faced with many decisions in our schools. From hiring a new superintendent, to continuing a vision process that will focus our school district and strategic plan for the next five years; it is a critical time to have strong leadership in place with knowledge and experience to make difficult decisions, ask the tough questions, and ensure everyone is included in transparent and thorough processes.
It will be a challenge and a commitment. However, I am confident and excited for the opportunity to provide the leadership necessary to navigate these challenges, together.
I will continue to promote and support initiatives and programs that challenge our students academically and provide them the necessary support to succeed.
I have been a strong advocate for MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports), and our district is currently undertaking a large initiative to revamp and optimize our practices.

I have been a strong advocate for MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports), and our district is currently undertaking a large initiative to revamp and optimize our practices.
MTSS is a school-wide approach where teachers, counselors, and other specialists work together to identify student needs and provide interventions. It is designed to help schools identify struggling students early and intervene quickly.
This will culminate with a School Board presentation in June and I am beyond excited for the work being done and the benefits for our students.
If elected, I will continue asking questions, requesting data, and making sure that students are getting the support and challenge they need to reach their highest potential.

In order for our schools to reach their incredible potential, it will take all of us stakeholders working together:
I will continue to prioritize ways to keep our community informed and engaged about our school district.
The schools belong to all of us, and when we all work together, students benefit.
We have made incredible progress in making the work of Pawling's Board of Education more accessible and transparent for our community.
From live-streaming board meetings to promoting more public discussion, people can see the inner workings of the school board clearer now than ever before.
I will continue to advocate for transparency and accessibility in every situation.
Thank you for your support! Every vote matters!
